Fastener MOC Overview

Material selection is critical — wrong MOC causes galvanic corrosion, hydrogen embrittlement, galling, or service failure. Match fastener MOC to flange, equipment, and service requirements.

Most widely specified for corrosive process service. Austenitic grades are non-magnetic, highly corrosion resistant, and cryogenic compatible. Prone to galling — use PTFE coating or anti-seize compound on SS-to-SS threads.
